IBM Continues On Acquisition Trail With Deal For Curam Software

IBM has agreed to buy Curam Software to strengthen its Smarter Cities initiative, a machine-to-machine (M2M), cloud and data analytics program offering improved efficiency and new services to cities and governments. The deal is expected to close in December 2011, although no terms for the deal have been given. The acquisition is the latest in a series that has resulted in IBM strengthening its product portfolio in new product areas, supplementing its traditional focus in software, hardware and services; as well as diversifying its product portfolio. CFW considers IBM's strategy positively and expects it to benefit from technological leadership, as well as its increasing emerging markets focus.
