AT&T Has Few Reasons To Give Thanks As T-Mobile Takeover Falters

Following the announcement that Federal Communications Commission (FCC), would move to block the merger of AT&T and T-Mobile USA, the companies have withdrawn their application to the regulator. We believe that this is a clear sign they are preparing to abandon the deal. BMI is surprised by the FCC's decision to call an administrative hearing on the case, a move taken when the agency opposes a merger, as it usually takes a more lenient approach to mergers and acquisitions. We believe this will be a huge blow to both companies, and think the chances of the merger are greatly diminished. However, we believe it is a positive development for customers as well as employees of both companies. Struggling operator Sprint is also likely to welcome the development, although its outlook continues to look bleak.
