Vodafone And KPN Talk Up European Mobile Consolidation Prospects
November 2011 | Corporate Financing AnalysisTwo of Europe's leading mobile network operators have helped restart speculation that slowing customer acquisition rates and falling profit margins could force consolidation in the crowded mobile marketplace. Vodafone - which has returned to the M&A trail - has indicated that consolidation in Germany is overdue while KPN has suggested it would be open to buying a rival operator in that country to improve its operating results and add value. CFW has long held the opinion that consolidation in Europe will happen sooner rather than later and that a deal in Germany could galvanise other markets into action.
