Rostelecom Continues Expansion Through Acquisition

Rostelecom, the state-backed former long-distance operator, is continuing to execute its strategy of expanding its broadband market share by entering into negotiations to buy independent Moscow broadband provider Gorcom. The price has been estimated at RUB1.2-1.4bn, which would increase Rostelecom's share of the Moscow fixed broadband market to around 7%. CFW believes gaining a foothold in the lucrative Moscow market requires acquisition as the market is too developed for a new entrant, and as such we welcome acquisition talks.
