Dia's First Results As Independent Operator Hint At Opportunities Ahead
September 2011 | Corporate Financing AnalysisHard discount operator Dia has posted its first set of results as an independent entity. Dia was spun off by retail giant Carrefour on July 5 2011 and the firm was listed in Spain with an initial market capitalisation of about US$3bn. Dia's first set of results was largely a continuation of its performance under Carrefour, with relatively weak results in Western Europe offset by strong growth in emerging markets. For the six months to the end of June, Dia's like-for-like sales in emerging market expanded by 14.4% but sales in Spain and Portugal (accounting for 51% of all revenues)
