Ex-CEO Calls For Belgacom Privatisation And Merger

Bessel Kok, the former CEO of Belgian incumbent Belgacom, has argued that the privatisation of Belgacom should be accelerated and talks on a merger with Dutch incumbent KPN should be restarted. The two incumbents had previously held talks in 2001, although the talks collapsed. CFW believes the privatisation of Belgacom would bring benefits to consumers through investment and innovation, but we consider KPN to be unsuitable, barring the spin-off of Belgacom's mobile operations.
