PPP Market Flourishes Amid Rising Risks
July 2011 | Corporate Financing AnalysisThe reaching of financial close on two prison public-private partnerships (PPPs) worth a combined EUR160mn (US$227mn) once more underlines the strength of Belgium's PPP market, which remains one of the most active in the region. CFW notes that with no end in sight to the political impasse that has left the country without a government for over a year, the country has been unable to implement the fiscal reforms necessary to driven down its fiscal deficit and public debt. We believe therefore that PPPs should continue to prove an attractive method of public project procurement given that they do not require large upfront capital outlays.
