Cambodia (Nearly) Joins Stock Exchange Universe

The Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) was launched on July 11, in a joint-venture between the Cambodian government and South Korea's Korea Exchange, which owns 45% of the new bourse. The new exchange faces major challenges in establishing itself, not least the problem of there not yet being any firms listed on it. The government hopes to rectify this later in 2011, with state-owned firms Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority, Telecom Cambodia and Sihanoukville Autonomous Port all being prepared for listing. There is also talk of as many as another 10 private firms contemplating a domestic IPO.
