Marubeni Steps Into Oman With Further Opportunities In The Horizon
June 2011 | Corporate Financing AnalysisBMI View: Another tender for a major independent power plant (IPP) has successfully drawn to a close, reinforcing Oman's utilities sector's reputation as a highly desirable market for international project sponsors. The power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Sur IPP has not yet been signed, which will mark the next step in the process. This project is Japanese conglomerate Marubeni's first foray into Oman's IPP market, which is currently dominated by GDF Suez and Siemens. With two more IPPs in the final stages of the tendering process, we maintain a sanguine outlook on the prospects for the market.
