Deutsche Telekom Settles In For The Long Haul

German incumbent Deutsche Telekom (DT) has acquired an additional 10% of Greek incumbent Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) for EUR400mn (US$586mn), as the Greek government seeks to sell off assets to pay down its debt. DT now faces the challenge of turning around its business in Greece, where encouraging subscriber spending will be difficult. CFW believes DT will seek ways to lower costs and reverse subscriber decline, but this will be an uphill battle.
