Implications Of The Rumoured Buy Out Of Nokia By Microsoft

When Microsoft and Nokia announced in February 2011 they would work together to develop mobile devices as well as the software and services that would power those devices, BMI's analysts began speculating whether this collaboration would eventually result in the combination of the two companies. At the time, executives denied a merger was under consideration, which chimed with the prevailing view of analysts that the resulting entity would be unmanageable and in neither organisation's best long-term interests. However, a prominent Russian blogger now writes that a definitive agreement to sell Nokia's devices business to Microsoft will be announced imminently.
